Introduction
DANA DANE, Mr. Nightmares himself, his current release "Delancy Street" is doing very well across the country. Dana has added a new D.J. to the act "D.J. Clark Kent".
Dana is scheduled to release an album, "Dana Dane with Fame" mid-March.
Be aware, however there is a record on the market that many people confuse as being Dana. The record "Gucci Man" by M.C. Holiday is a direct copy of Dana's style, and if you have heard it the music sounds the same. So please do not confuse the style originated by the originals "the Kango Crew". Read on, you'll understand.
Biography
Last year Dana Dane took "Nightmares" all the way to the top of the charts, established himself, and earned his place among the top ranks in the "Rap World". This year he promises to repeat history with "Delancy Street", a single from his forthcoming album, "Dana Dane with Fame".
"I can't express any plainer, That I'm an entertainer." No truer words can be said about this charismatic young man from Brooklyn. The only way to describe his performance is to experience it. Dana not only has a unique style of rap, but a unique style of performance. Together with his new D.J., "the Most Incredible Clark Kent", who can control the turntables as if they were extensions of himself, the show leaves nothing to be desired.
Dana was born on September 6, 1965 in at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, NY. He was was raised in Brooklyn where he still lives. Dana's interest in rapping was sparked the by a good friend and class mate Slick Rick back in 1980. While attending Music and Arts High School in Manhattan, he formed a group called the Kango Crew, members of the group were Slick Rick, Lance Brown, Omega, Cool Alski & Dana. The group performed mostly in the lunchroom to entertain classmates.
Dana graduated in 1983 and moved on to the Bronx Community College where he majored in accounting. In 1985 he transfered to Manhattan Communit College.
Dana took a leave of absence to cut a record. That record was "Nightmares", released on Profile records in 1985. Dana never made it back to school. The success of the record kept him busy touring the U.S., but Dana does plan to return to school, that is of course if things ever slow down.
Enter the "Supa Produca Hurby Luv Bug" Azor, as he likes to be known. The two met on the road and became good friends and better business assosiates. Dana asked Hurby to produce his next release and so "Delancy Street" was born.
Dana's new D.J., Clark Kent. Clark started spinning at the age of 9 years after watching his uncle practice at home for his job as a D.J. in a Brooklyn Club. Before he became Dana's D.J., Clark spun at many New York clubs including the Famous Union Square in New York City. Clarks is rated by his peers to be one of the best at his skill. Watch Out....
"Delancy Street" is destined to go further and higher than the level attained by "Nightmares", so look out for Dana Dane, he's in affect.
Dana Dane with Fame goes gold
Dana Dane with Fame became a gold record after its 1987 release, turning the album forecast in the kit into a commercial success. "Cinderfella Dana Dane" became his best-known hit. The original press kit also records that "Nightmares" had already kept him touring across the United States.
Music, books, and film
Dane followed his debut with Dana Dane 4 Ever (1990) and Rollin' Wit Dana Dane (1995).
Dane's storytelling also took him beyond records. He hosted Sirius Satellite Radio's classic hip-hop channel and wrote the novel Numbers, published in 2009.
He also moved into film. Dane appeared in the 2002 film Brown Sugar and developed independent screen projects through Def Beat Entertainment. His producer credits include the short film Jesus (2014), To Live and Die in Bed-Stuy (2020), and Sin (2025), as listed in his film credits.
