TAT MONEY

Hip-Hop DJ

DJ Tat Money emerged from Philadelphia's hip-hop scene in the 1980s. In a career interview, he recalled making street mixtapes while working at a record store before joining Steady B as his DJ.

He contributed cuts to Steady B's Bring the Beat Back and later worked with Kwamé and A New Beginning. His recorded work documents the turntable craft behind those releases.

Tat Money entered the 1987 New Music Seminar DJ battle in New York. In a later interview, he described the competition and the Philadelphia scratch style he brought to it.

On A Day in the Life

After joining Kwame and A New Beginning, Tat Money contributed cuts to four tracks on the 1990 album A Day in the Life: A Pokadelick Adventure. He described that studio work in a later interview, giving his turntable role a specific place in the group's recording history.

Production work

Tat Money also produced records by the Philadelphia group EBS for his 1/2 Fro label. He discussed that work and his move from Steady B's crew to Kwamé's group in a 2010 interview.
